Crisis, what crisis?
In June of 2005, I thought that I would have a real go at using my Sony Camcorder's Carl Zeiss lens macro facility, (something I had had for a few years but never used much).
My wife Lisa (www.lisavallentin.com) had once again grown lots of interesting flowers in our little North London garden. After two hours and 400 photos later, I popped them into my iMac and was very pleasantly blown away.
The great range of flowers afforded a myriad of very aesthetically pleasing images in regards to colour, design, lighting, focal depth, composition and staggering natural beauty. Real 'Hand Of God' stuff.
Since that day, I have taken thousands of flower and plant photos, almost entirely in our garden. It takes little effort to get a great image. Although very early and very late sun works best for me, I find that even a dark day might present some interesting effects.
England has crazy days of constantly changing weather. It can be frustrating to just get started shooting in hot sun, only to have it get suddenly dark, then raining. If you wait a bit then you might again get bright sun, but with droplets of water on everything! Exciting!
The resolution of these is not great, but the camera is so good that I haven't found anything better to use yet.
I hope you enjoy my flower photo therapy.
